Week 1: August 25-August 31
This week was off to a great start with my return to UC Blue Ash this 2019 Fall Semester. After a jam-packed Summer of being a Student Orientation Leader, it feels somewhat strange to be the "student" again! I worked three shifts at the Welcome Desk, and one Ambassador event. Balancing all of my responsibilities will be a frenzy, but it is my greatest pleasure to get the opportunity to be so involved with my university.
My first Ambassador event was "Bling Your Binder" hosted by Molly Scruta. At this event, students were able to pick up a free binder and decorate it to their liking. I was able to decorate a binder of my own, while spending time with my fellow ambassadors Kifaya, Kendyll, and Stella. We so enjoyed meeting new students and encouraging them to get involved on campus.
One event, or situation, that began to enlighten my servant leadership position was when a student approached Stella Roll and I asking for directions in the middle of our busy hallway. What made this encounter so important, was because she said she "remembered us at New Student Orientation". I had no idea that we were that memorable at such a long day and that this student felt comfortable enough to approach us in the hectic college scene. We could tell she was relieved when we directed her to her intended destination. A warm and comforting feeling surrounded my soul, knowing that I am being used at my fullest potential here at UCBA. I thrive off helping people and making everyone's life easier if possible. I am eager to learn more knowledge in order to assist our faculty and student body.
I am taking three courses on campus and two courses online this semester. I have Developmental Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, and Spanish on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I have Spanish again on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My online classes include Psychology Lab and History II. I think this semester is going to be my busiest yet, however I greatly respect my professors, so I think they will be amazing resources throughout the semester. To get more specific, we learned all of our Syllabus content this week and started many of our lessons. I think Developmental Psychology will fascinate me the most, as it covers the lifespan of infants to adulthood, and my final career will fall in one of these age groups.
So that was my first week of Sophomore Year. I am excited to report back on next week's festivities!
